Short answer: we could not find a fully halal resort in Mexico. On November 6, 2026, HalalBooking’s Mexico page showed 6,229 properties and zero with “All halal food.” Halal resorts in Mexico are really standard all-inclusives where you may arrange halal meals, have alcohol removed from your room, and wear modest swimwear in mixed areas. If you want all food halal and no alcohol around the pool, look elsewhere; if you want Cancun anyway, the table below shows what each resort actually confirms.
Halal resorts in Mexico: 10 all-inclusives compared
We opened these 10 all-inclusive listings in Cancun and Puerto Morelos on HalalBooking and copied the wording from each one. We plan to partner with HalalBooking, so read these as seller descriptions, not an audit.
| Resort | Halal food (Listed) | Alcohol (Listed) | Swimming (Listed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort & Spa | “Halal food on request”, “Halal food nearby” | “Alcohol-free room” | Beach and outdoor pool: mixed-gender |
| Hyatt Ziva Cancun | “Halal food nearby” | “Alcohol-free room” | Beach, outdoor and indoor pool: mixed-gender, “Modest swimwear allowed” |
| Marriott Cancun | “Halal food nearby” | “Alcohol-free room” | Outdoor pool: mixed-gender, “Modest swimwear allowed” |
| Park Royal Beach Cancun | “Halal food nearby” | “Alcohol-free room” | Beach and outdoor pool: mixed-gender, “Modest swimwear allowed” |
| Moon Palace Cancun | “No halal food provision in the property or nearby places” (Conflicting, see below) | “Alcohol-free room” | Beach and outdoor pool: mixed-gender, “Modest swimwear allowed”; hot tub in all rooms, “Fully-secluded” |
| Wyndham Grand Cancun | “No halal food provision in the property or nearby places” | “Alcohol-free room” | Beach, outdoor and indoor pool: mixed-gender, “Modest swimwear allowed” |
| Royal Solaris Cancun | “No halal food provision in the property or nearby places” | “Alcohol-free room” | Beach and outdoor pool: mixed-gender, “Modest swimwear allowed” |
| Grand Park Royal Cancun | “Halal-friendliness data pending” | “Halal-friendliness data pending” | Hot tub in some rooms, “Fully-secluded” |

| Hotel Riu Cancun (adults only) | “Halal-friendliness data pending” | “Halal-friendliness data pending” | Not checked yet |

Are there any halal resorts in Mexico?
Not that we could confirm. These are HalalBooking’s filter counts on the day we checked (Listed). They are a snapshot, and they cover only what that platform lists.
| Filter | All of Mexico (6,229 properties) | Cancun page (279 properties) |
|---|---|---|
| All halal food | 0 | 0 |
| Some halal food | 5 | 0 |
| Halal food on request | 8 | 0 |
| Halal food nearby (within 500m) | 222 | 8 |
| Alcohol-free property | 16 | 1 |
| Alcohol-free room | 379 | 45 |
The 16 alcohol-free properties don’t change the picture much, because none of them can also be “All halal food” when that count is zero. We didn’t identify them individually. HalalBooking’s Mexico page also shows zero properties with a ladies-only beach or a ladies-only pool. Five properties list a ladies-only spa, and 17 list a fully secluded pool in the villa or room. Two other sources agree on the wider point: Fond Travels, a travel seller, writes that resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean “are not halal-certified,” and HalalSpy says Mexico has no national halal certification body, so restaurant claims are self-declared (both Reported).
Is Hyatt Ziva Cancun or Moon Palace halal?
Neither is listed as a halal resort. Moon Palace Cancun is Conflicting: its HalalBooking listing says “No halal food provision in the property or nearby places,” while HalalSpy’s guide, checked March 22, 2026, says Moon Palace and Hyatt Ziva “accommodate halal dietary requests with advance notice” (Reported). Hyatt Ziva Cancun lists only “Halal food nearby,” so the on-site meals in that guide aren’t confirmed on the listing. Treat both as “ask the hotel,” and get the answer in writing.
The closest thing to a confirmed on-site option in our table is Dreams Puerto Morelos, the only one that lists “Halal food on request,” which HalalBooking defines as available “if requested in advance.” Note that this listing’s web address carries a Hyatt Ziva name, while the page itself shows Dreams Puerto Morelos, so confirm the hotel’s name when you book.
What “alcohol-free room” means at a Mexican all-inclusive
Seven of the 10 listings say “Alcohol-free room,” and it’s easy to over-read. HalalBooking’s own definition says alcohol can be removed from the room on request and “Alcohol is served in the rest of the property.” Fond Travels also warns that all-inclusive resorts “serve alcohol, and many buffets include pork” (Reported). So plan for alcohol at the bar, the pool and dinner. Our guide to what a halal-friendly hotel really is explains these five levels, and most Cancun listings sit at the lowest ones.
Halal food and mosques around Cancun
- Meals at the resort: Fond Travels says resorts “usually need at least 72 hours’ notice” for halal meals (Reported). That is a seller’s experience, not a resort’s promise, so ask each resort.
- “Halal food nearby” varies a lot: several resorts sit in the same Hotel Zone, yet some list halal food within 500m and others list none. Don’t assume it from the neighborhood.
- Restaurants: HalalSpy names Casa Persa and Shawarma Express in the Hotel Zone (Reported). We haven’t confirmed them with the restaurants, so call first.
- Mosque: HalalSpy names Masjid Al-Rahim in downtown Cancun, about 20 minutes by taxi from the Hotel Zone (Reported, checked March 22, 2026). HalalSpy is the only source we opened with this detail, so confirm times before a Friday trip.
- Entry rules and airport food: Not checked yet. Check the official Mexican and US government pages for your passport, and our guide to airlines with halal meals for the flight.
Which Mexico or halal resort option fits you?
- You want Cancun and can be flexible on food: start with the “on request” and “nearby” rows above, and confirm meals before you pay.
- You want a short flight from the US and some confirmed labels: compare our halal resorts in the Caribbean, which use the same labels.
- You want all food halal and no alcohol this winter: Mexico won’t confirm that. See Maldives halal resorts, or our halal all-inclusive family resorts.
- You want a women-only beach: Mexico shows none on this platform. See women-only beach resorts in Türkiye, and check the dates: for example, Wome Deluxe lists its beach as open from April 1 to November 15 (Listed), so think spring, not winter break.
- You mainly want a beach near halal food: see our beach holidays for Muslims.
Questions to ask before you book
Start with our questions to ask a halal resort, then add these for Mexico:
- Can you prepare halal meals for my dates? Who supplies the meat, and how much notice do you need?
- Is the meal cooked separately from pork, and without wine or spirits in sauces?
- Will you remove alcohol from my room, and is that in writing on my booking?
- Is modest swimwear allowed in every pool and on the beach?
- Is there a quiet place to pray, and can I get a meal at suhoor or iftar during Ramadan?
FAQ
Are there any halal resorts in Mexico?
We couldn’t confirm one. HalalBooking’s Mexico page showed zero properties with “All halal food” on November 6, 2026, and 8 with “Halal food on request” (Listed). A resort outside that platform could offer more, so ask directly.
Is Moon Palace Cancun halal?
It isn’t listed as halal, and the sources disagree on meals. Its HalalBooking listing says “No halal food provision in the property or nearby places,” while one guide says it handles requests with advance notice (Conflicting). Ask the resort in writing before you book.
Is there halal food in Cancun?
Some, but not much that we could confirm. HalalBooking’s Cancun page shows 8 properties with halal food within 500m (Listed), and HalalSpy names a few restaurants in the Hotel Zone, none with third-party certification (Reported). Call ahead, and treat certification as unconfirmed.
