Short answer: six airlines with halal food state on their own websites that the meals they serve are halal: Emirates, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Oman Air and Royal Brunei Airlines. Only Emirates uses the word “certified”. On any other airline, and on codeshare flights operated by a partner, request a Muslim meal (MOML) when you book, usually at least 24 hours before departure.

Why some airlines aren’t listed: Qatar Airways, Saudia and Garuda Indonesia were in earlier versions of this page. On October 24, 2026 we couldn’t open their own meal pages, so we have removed them until we can quote the airline directly. Ask those airlines before you fly.
Emirates: the only “halal certified” wording
Emirates’ dietary requirements page says: “All our meals are halal certified.” Of the six airlines here, it is the only one that mentions certification rather than preparation. The same page notes that some dietary meals aren’t available in Economy Class on flights lasting less than two hours.
Etihad Airways: halal food, alcohol on board
Etihad’s meals page says “All meals we serve are Halal” and offers “complimentary Halal meals or snacks on every flight”. The same page says you can “choose from soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, or tea and coffee”, so halal food does not mean an alcohol-free cabin.
Turkish Airlines: halal “under normal circumstances”
Turkish Airlines’ special-meals page says that “under normal circumstances, all meals served on our flights are prepared in accordance with Islamic dietary laws (halal)”. Its special-meal list has no separate Muslim meal. Special meal requests can be made up to 24 hours before the flight. The wording is about preparation, not certification, so ask the airline if certification matters to you.
Malaysia Airlines: halal on its own flights, MOML on partners
Malaysia Airlines states that “all meals served on Malaysia Airlines-operated flights are halal”, including Chef-on-Call meals. For codeshare flights it says passengers with halal dietary requirements “are advised to request Muslim Meals (MOML)”. Meal orders must be placed at least 24 hours before the first flight in your itinerary.
Oman Air and Royal Brunei Airlines
Oman Air’s inflight meals page says all food supplied on its flights is halal “and there is no need to request a Moslem meal”. Royal Brunei Airlines’ special meals page says “All meals in Royal Brunei Airlines are halal”. Both ask for other special meal requests at least 24 hours before departure.
How to get a halal meal on any other airline (MOML)
MOML is the airline code for a Muslim meal; Malaysia Airlines, for example, tells halal travelers on its codeshare partners to request it. Ask for it when you book or under “Manage Booking”, and check the deadline with the airline that actually operates each flight.
- Re-check your meal request after any schedule change or rebooking.
- Tell the cabin crew you ordered a Muslim meal when you board.

Certified or “prepared halal”? Which airline fits you?
- You want certification in writing: Emirates is the only airline here whose own page says “certified”. For the others, ask which body certifies the caterer.
- You’d rather not sit near alcohol service: none of these six pages says the cabin is alcohol-free, and Etihad lists alcoholic beverages. Ask the airline.
- Your trip includes a partner airline: order MOML for that leg, whatever the marketing airline serves.
Scholars differ on how much assurance is needed. One Hanafi answer (ShariahBoard via IslamQA, read October 24, 2026) ties it to assurance that the meat is halal and suggests vegetarian options when in doubt. Follow the guidance you trust.
