Halal Food at Airports: What Airports Officially Confirm

Modern airport terminal with seating

Last checked: October 24, 2026. Stated = quoted from the airport’s official website (the outlet’s own listing there), opened on that date. Not checked yet = we found no halal statement on an official page.

Short answer: halal food at airports is easiest to confirm where the airport’s own website says it. On October 24, 2026, the official sites of Singapore Changi, Istanbul, Dubai International and Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) each named at least one outlet as halal. No airport or airline can promise that every meal on your trip is halal, so check the official page for your terminal before you fly and pack a backup snack.

Why “halal” on an airport page is a statement, not a guarantee

The wording differs. Rotiboy’s listing names the certifier (MUIS, Singapore’s Islamic Religious Council), KopiKakis says “Halal-certified”, and Paşa Döner and Five Guys describe halal food without naming a certificate. A halal outlet may also sit in a food court next to non-halal kitchens. If certification matters to you, ask to see the certificate at the counter.

How to find halal food at any airport

  • Start with the airport’s own dining directory. Search the outlet name plus “halal”, and note whether it is airside (after security) or landside. Elfuego at Jewel Changi, for example, is in the public area.
  • Check your terminal and concourse. DXB’s Five Guys is in Terminal 3, Concourse B; Istanbul’s Paşa Döner is near F Pier. A long walk on a short layover may not be realistic.
  • Use apps as a lead, not as proof. Community listings help you find options; confirm on the official page or at the counter.
  • Pack a backup. Dates, nuts or sealed snacks cover delays (see our halal packing list).

Halal food on the plane is a separate question

An airline’s meals aren’t covered by the airport. Some airlines state on their own sites that all their meals are halal, and on others you request a Muslim meal (MOML) in advance. We list exactly what each airline states in airlines with halal food. Lounges set their own menus, so ask the lounge too.

Which layover fits you?

  • You want several confirmed options in one place: Changi had three outlets with a halal statement on its own site, in different terminals. See also our Singapore halal travel guide.
  • You’re connecting through Istanbul or Dubai: note the pier or concourse of the confirmed outlet before you land. Staying longer? Read our halal holidays in Istanbul and halal-friendly resorts in Dubai.
  • Your airport isn’t in the table: check its official dining page; if it says nothing, plan on a pre-ordered airline meal and your own snacks.

Praying during your layover

Food and prayer often go together on a long connection. Our guide to airport prayer rooms covers where to look, and how to pray on a plane covers the flight itself.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the halal outlet airside or landside at my connecting terminal, and is it open at my layover time?
  • Can the outlet show a current halal certificate, and from which body?
  • Has my airline confirmed my Muslim meal (MOML) on every leg?

For your hotel, use our questions to ask a halal resort before you book.

FAQ

Is airport food halal?

Not automatically. Some airports’ official sites name specific halal outlets; check the official dining page for your terminal and ask at the counter.

Is there halal food at Singapore Changi Airport?

Yes. On October 24, 2026, Changi’s own listings described KopiKakis (T1 Transit) as “Halal-certified” and Rotiboy (T3 Public) as “MUIS halal certified”, and called Elfuego at Jewel a “Halal European concept”.

Is Dubai airport food halal?

Dubai Airports’ own listing says Five Guys in Terminal 3, Concourse B serves “100% halal beef burgers”. We didn’t find a statement that every outlet at DXB is halal, so ask at other outlets.
