Last checked: October 28, 2026. Labels: Stated = said by an official Saudi source; Reported = news report citing an official source; Not checked yet = we could not open an official page that confirms it.

Short answer: Umrah in Ramadan 2027 falls between about February 8 and March 9, 2027 (moon sighting decides the exact days). Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah says the last day to issue an Umrah visa for this season is March 9, 2027, and the last day for Umrah pilgrims to enter the Kingdom is March 23, 2027. Ramadan is the busiest Umrah period of the year, so book your Nusuk permit, flights and Makkah hotel early and expect the biggest crowds in the last ten nights. This page is informational only: we do not compare or recommend Umrah packages or operators.

Note the gap between the two “last” dates: the Umrah visa calendar ends around Eid al-Fitr, while entry is allowed until mid-Shawwal. If you plan to stay for Eid in Makkah, check that your visa type and dates fit this calendar before you book.

Which visa for Umrah in Ramadan 2027?

  • Tourist eVisa: Saudi Arabia’s official visa portal lists “Umrah (excluding Hajj)” as an allowed activity on the tourist visa, for visitors from the eligible countries (Stated, visa.visitsaudi.com). Tourist visa holders may not perform Umrah during the Hajj season (Reported, Gulf News, 2023); Ramadan is outside that season.
  • Umrah visa: issued for the season in the calendar above, with March 9, 2027 as the final issuance date (Stated).

Nusuk permits in Ramadan: one Umrah, booked time slots

Every Umrah needs a permit with a time slot, booked in the Nusuk app. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah adds that children over 5 need their own Umrah permit through Nusuk (Stated, haj.gov.sa, Things to remember).

In recent Ramadans, the ministry did not issue a permit for a second Umrah during the month, to ease congestion (Reported, Saudi Gazette, March 2024; Arab News, March 2023). We could not open an official Nusuk page confirming the rule for 2027, so treat it as Not checked yet for 2027 and check the app before you travel. The same 2024 report says you can delete an appointment in the app well before its time, which frees the slot.

Visiting the Rawdah in Madinah: news reports say a Rawdah permit can be booked once every 365 days (Reported, Gulf News, December 2023; Gulf News, January 2025). If a visit is on your list, book it in Nusuk as soon as your dates are fixed.

Health requirements for Umrah pilgrims

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health says all people intending to perform Umrah, from all countries, must be vaccinated against meningococcal disease. A conjugate ACYW (or ACYWX) vaccine counts if it was received within the last 5 years and at least 10 days before arrival; a polysaccharide ACYW vaccine counts within the last 3 years (Stated, Ministry of Health, Umrah health regulations 1447 H). The same document sets extra rules for some countries (polio, yellow fever) and for higher-risk groups. The 1448 H version was not online when we checked, so confirm the current version before you travel.

Crowds during Umrah in Ramadan

Ramadan draws the largest Umrah crowds of the year. During Ramadan 2026, more than 904,000 people performed Umrah at the Grand Mosque on a single day (4 Ramadan), and the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques expected higher numbers in the last ten nights (Reported, Siasat, February 2026). In 2026 the authority also ran an online i’tikaf registration that opened on 3 Ramadan, with i’tikaf from 20 Ramadan (Reported, Riyadh Daily / SPA, February 2026); the 2027 arrangements are not checked yet.

Why do so many travelers choose Ramadan? Many Muslims point to a hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari (1782) about Umrah in Ramadan and its reward (sunnah.com). We do not give religious rulings; ask a scholar you trust about your own situation.

Which Ramadan Umrah timing fits you?

  • First-time pilgrims, families with young children or older parents: the first part of the month is usually calmer than the last ten nights (see the crowd reports above). Read our Umrah tips for first-time pilgrims.
  • Last ten nights: the busiest period. Plan for longer walks, closed routes and full prayer areas, and book permits and rooms first.
  • Staying for Eid al-Fitr: check the March 9 visa and March 23 entry dates above, and see our Eid al-Fitr 2027 holiday guide.
  • Combining Umrah with a trip: see our Saudi Arabia travel guide beyond Umrah.
