Short answer: Ramadan in Dubai 2027 is expected from about February 8 to March 8 or 9, 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on March 9 or 10. For visitors, Dubai’s official tourism office says there are no specific Ramadan restrictions: non-fasting visitors may eat and drink in public, restaurants and attractions stay open, though some places change their hours. Working hours are shorter, evenings are busy with iftar tents and night markets, and showing respect to people who fast is still appreciated. Check current travel advice before you book.

Ramadan rules in Dubai for tourists: eating in public and respect

Older travel blogs still mention fines for eating in public during Ramadan. That is out of date: Visit Dubai now writes that “residents and visitors are not required to fast and there are no specific restrictions during Ramadan” and that “those not fasting can eat and drink during the day” (Stated, 2026). The UAE government portal adds that non-Muslims are not required to fast (Stated).

Courtesy still matters. The UK government’s travel advice for the UAE asks visitors to make sure their actions do not cause offence, “especially during the holy month of Ramadan”, and notes that eating, drinking or smoking in public in the daytime, loud music and dress that does not meet local codes may cause offence (Stated, GOV.UK, UAE travel advice). If you are not fasting, eating at your hotel or in a restaurant rather than walking with food is the easy middle way.

Iftar and suhoor in Dubai: tents, markets and hotels

  • Ramadan tents and night markets: Visit Dubai describes “large tents where people can meet and have iftar and suhoor” and “night markets dotted around the city”, plus family events and mall offers (Stated, 2026).
  • The iftar cannon: “the daily firing of cannons at sunset to mark the end of fasting” is, according to Visit Dubai, the city’s most famous Ramadan tradition (Stated).
  • Hotels we documented: of the 13 hotels in our Islamic hotels in Dubai check, Jumeirah Beach Hotel (halal food Listed, not alcohol-free) appears in Visit Dubai’s 2026 list of Ramadan tents with “The Ramadan Garden” (Stated, Visit Dubai, best Ramadan tents, February 2026). For the other hotels, including the alcohol-free ones such as Jannah Place Dubai Marina and The Biltmore Hotel Villas, we found no Ramadan iftar or suhoor page on their own websites (Not checked yet): ask the hotel directly.
  • Beyond hotels: see our guides to halal fine dining in Dubai and halal desert safaris; ask any safari operator how they handle iftar timing.

Getting around Dubai in Ramadan

For Ramadan 2026, the RTA published special hours: the Metro ran from 5:00 am to midnight Monday to Thursday and Saturday, until 1:00 am on Friday night, and from 8:00 am on Sunday; paid parking applied in two periods (8:00 am to 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm to midnight) from Monday to Saturday (Stated, RTA, 2026). New hours are announced each year, so check the RTA site or the S’hail app in early February 2027. Traffic is often heavy just before iftar.

Before you book Ramadan in Dubai: travel advice

On October 27, 2026, the UK government updated its UAE advice on regional tensions. It does not advise against travel to the UAE, but says the risk of sudden escalation in the Middle East is high and travelers should be prepared for possible flight cancellations and airspace closures (Stated, GOV.UK). In March 2026, Dubai International ran at reduced capacity during Eid after missile attacks in the region (Reported, The National, March 2026). Read your own government’s advice close to departure and choose flexible bookings.
